Mr. Subhajit Banerjee

Mr. Subhajit Banerjee is a Public Policy Researcher with a strong academic and professional background, driven by an interest in understanding the intersections of rural development, innovation, and evidence-based policy making. He holds an M.Sc. in Agriculture and Rural Development from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), India, with a specialization in Fuzzy Cognitive Modelling as a systems approach for impact assessment. His multidisciplinary expertise spans cognitive modelling and scenario-based policy simulation, social network analysis, migration and gendered labour, rural livelihoods, participatory research, impact assessment, climate change adaptation, statistics, and mixed-method approaches. He is currently working in the Impact Assessment & Public Policy Division at the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Gandhinagar, where he focuses on evaluating grassroots innovations, assessing their social and economic impact, and contributing to policy research that strengthens innovation ecosystems in alignment with national priorities. Previously, as a Chief Minister Fellow with the Department of Finance, Planning and Investment, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, he supported district-level planning, governance strategies, and policy formulation. By combining academic training with applied research in agriculture, rural development, and data analytics, Mr. Banerjee offers a holistic perspective on grassroots innovations, indigenous knowledge systems and public policy. His prior roles as Research Associate/Consultant at reputed research institutions such as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, ImpactDash Consultancy, and the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj enriched his analytical and field-based insights. He has also published several research articles on contemporary issues in journals including SAGE Publications, Journal of Eco-Friendly Agriculture, and Food & Scientific Reports, contributing to scholarly debates on rural development and impact assessment.
