Dr. Arvind C. Ranade earned his M.Sc. in Space Sciences from the University of Pune in the year 2000 and his doctoral degree in Astronomical Spectroscopy from the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune in 2008. He began his professional journey as a Scientist specializing in Astronomy and Space Science Communication at VigyanPrasar, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in 2004. Over seventeen years of service to VigyanPrasar, Dr.Ranade has made significant contributions to Scientific Education and Research through his research papers, articles, books, and Audio-Video Programmes. He also worked on frugal innovations engaging young minds to address teaching and learning as well as local challenges with local solutions. He is a recipient of several awards contributions viz. ‘LilabaiPitkar Award’ in 2000, ‘Aacharya Shree award’ in 2013, ‘ERADA (इरादा) VigyanPuraskar’ in 2017. He has been a member of the advisory council of academic boards of various institutions viz. JNU, NCERT, CSIR- NIScPR, IGUM - Haryana, and BAMU- Maharashtra. He is a life member of the Astronomical Society of India, the Meteorological Society of India, and the South Asian Metrological Association. During his career, he held various academic and administrative positions, including National Convener of VidyarthiVigyanManthan (VVM)-national science talent search, National Coordinator, VigyanPrasarNETwork of Science Clubs (VIPNET), and Registrar at VigyanPrasar. Before joining the National Innovation Foundation as the Director, he was the Executive Director of the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi.
