THAKKER had Dantru powder on sale, something which is "helpful to keep diseases at bay". She went on to explain the process and ingredients in detail: "Dantru is a form of Niro (jav) and you can make various items like soup, shiro, chocolate, cake, roti, etc, using it. It helps get rid of diabetes, stone problems, and other such issues." Thakker has been participating in the festival for the past eight years. "Earlier, my father, Dharmendra Pandya, used to handle the stalls. The experience is great as always. You get to meet lot of people, and I enjoy it a lot because I believe in sharing knowledge," she added.

NALINI PATEL, 36 ENTREPRENEUR

I AM participating for the first time in Sattvik and I came to know about it from Hemaben (from the organising committee). I have made an organic dry chilli chutney, which can be used on pizza base, sandwiches, dabeli, pasta, etc. One can event have it with parathas or rotis," said Patel. She added that her experience was overwhelming and she had customers coming back for more bottles the next day.









DHARMBIR KAMBOJ, 53 INNOVATOR

KAMBOJ displayed an innovator — a multipurpose unit to process various herbal plants like aloe vera to extract gel, juice, etc. It can also be used to extract juice from amlas; the leftovers of which can be used for making candy, sweets, powder, etc. "Similarly, extracting essence from chillies, coriander, flowers (rose, chameli, etc), fruit juice/pulp from mango, tomato, oranges etc. I was a peddle rickshaw driver in Delhi. I met with an accident and had to go back to my village where I started growing jadibuti," explained Kamboj, adding "That's when I thought of doing something to make the process of extracting juices easier. So, this machine came about." Kamboj said: "I got an award for state food processor in 2009 by NIF (National Innovation Foundation); in 2010, I was awarded 'Farmer Scientist' by NIF; in 2014, as part of a scholar residency programme, I was invited as a guest at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi for 20 days."



VAISHALI, 40 ENTREPRENEUR

VAISHALIhad natural hair pack, hair oil, soaps and more on display, all organic and homemade. She uses vegetable leaves, bitter gourd, jaasud (hibiscus flower), beet, cucumber to prepare these products. "This is my fourth year at the Sattvik food festival and I get so many people interested in going purely natural. I have clients who come for hair treatment. The experience has always got better with each passing year. My products help control hair-fall, dandruff, reduce white hair, increase hair growth, etc," said Vaishali. "Sattvik is one of the great platforms to come and exhibit your work and have received amazing response every year," she added.
