The National Innovation Foundation- India (NIF) has released the list of winners of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE 2015 Award, on his 84th birth anniversary on Thursday.

IGNITE, a national competition of original technological ideas and innovations by children up to class 12 or those out of school up to the age of 17 years—is organised by NIF every year to promote creativity and originality among children.

The awards of IGNITE competition are announced every year on October 15, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s birthday, which is celebrated as the Children’s Creativity and Innovation Day by NIF.

“This year, a total 31 ideas by 40 students of 27 districts from 18 states will be awarded for their ideas/innovations. Overall, 28,106 submissions of students from 425 districts of all the States and union territories were received during the IGNITE 15 competition, which ran from September 1, 2014 to September 10, 2015,” informs Dr Vipin Kumar,Director and Chief Innovation Officer, NIF.

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee will give away the awards to the 31 innovations from across the country on November 30, 2015 in Ahmedabad.

An exhibition showcasing award winning ideas will be held at the venue. NIF will file patents in all applicable cases in the name of the students and will also engage designers and fabricators to develop prototypes of the students’ ideas.
