“My father, along with other farmers of the village, worked very hard. For long hours, they would all be digging sweet potato. The difficulties faced by them in using a hand digger disturbed me. I wanted to help my father and other farmers,” says Sebati. She came up with a digger, operated by spring mechanism with a rod, so that using lever mechanism, sweet potatoes can be dug easily.
Sebati wants to improvise the machine for other vegetables, such as yam. She is passionate about helping others and wishes to teach poor children when she grows up. She writes stories in Odiya and is currently learning tailoring.
