Mr. Karuppiah has been running lathe workshop in Watrap village. Virdhunagar district. He does repairing of agricultural implements, lathe requirements of local people. Due to competition among lathe workshop owners, the income was less, and this led Mr. Karuppiah to think of introducing innovative implements, so that the local people could approach him and give him work orders.

Coconut harvestor:

A coconut harvestor, which could be used for harvesting matured nuts from trees up to 50 feet height, has been developed. It could be operated by two persons (1 to drive the tractor another to harvest the nuts).

Advantages:
 

  1.       This machine could be used in any season of the year, including rainy season.
  2.       About 10 acres of coconut plantation could be harvested in a day, thus saving the time and cost of labor of Rs. 800/-per day.
