 Innovator Profile

An idea of a soundproof hammer, which would not make any soundwhen struck against any object.
Noise from home renovations and residential constructions can be very annoying, especially when a hammer is used constantly. In a construction area, the noise generated from a hammer can reach upto 110 decibel, which exposed for more than 10 minutes can cause serious deafness. Sometimes, when a renovation work is on, theconstruction workers, residents and neighbours have to bear the noise for days and even months.
Having being through this situation, Prithwish came up with the idea of a soundproof hammer, through which the noise level of a hammer can be reduced to its minimum. The sound proof hammer would be covered with a foam-like substance, which would absorb the impact when struck against any object.
"My house was being renovated some time ago. The workers were using hammers to break the floor tiles and all the noise was driving me up the wall. And it was not just me who was annoyed but my neighbours, too, had a tough time. So i thought of this idea of a soundproof hammer," says Prithwish, who takes deep interest in science and technology. While his favourite subject in school is economics, he likes reading books on science, especially the ones authored by Stephen Hawking.
His hobbies include playing games like cricket and football, for which he has won awards.
His mother is a homemaker while his elder sister is pursuing media science. He wants to follow his father’s footsteps and become a businessman.“My role model is Steve Jobs, who had famously said, ‘The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones who do’,” says Prithwish.
