Problem addressed:
One of the major challenges faced by farmers is the shortage of labor for harvesting operations. The availability of labor is found to be very difficult these days in villages as most of them are running towards cities. If available then the charges paid to them are high and days needed for harvesting takes long time.

The tractor mounted, PTO powered groundnut digger consists of a telescopic propeller shaft, gearbox for suiting the machine to be fitted with standard 540 or 1000 rpm PTO, heavy duty endless chain conveyor made of MS flat of 1165 x 40 x 8 mm - riveted/bolted at 125 mm spacing to two chains with driving sprockets and support wheels in the middle, digging blades arranged in V shape of dimensions 1070 x 125 x 12 mm made of EN8 (high carbon steel). The uprooted groundnuts are conveyed from ground level to a a higher level for collection using a conveyor belt. The belt keeps vibrating as a result of which the pods get cleaned of the attached soil.

NIF has felicitated innovator with a National award in Seventh Biennial Award Function of National Innovation Foundation.
