As many as 28 science models and projects were selected for the State-level Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) exhibition at the first district INSPIRE exhibition that concluded here on Sunday.

Mahabubabad MP A. Seetha Ram Naik and Mahabubabad MLA B. Shankar Naik attended the closing function.

Mr. Ram Naik said teachers should encourage students to refine their talent and creativity. He urged the students to think scientifically and come up with innovative ideas.

Mr. Shankar Naik said that the State government has initiated several measures for improving the education sector.

Science could only be learnt through practical knowledge, and science exhibitions play a vital role in the development of skills.

Over 270 models from 200 schools were displayed at the exhibition organised at Telangana State Model High School, Anantharam. The three-day exhibition began on Thursday.

The science fête was organised under the supervision of Deputy Educational Officer T. Ravinder.

Science communicator and INSPIRE district resource group teacher V. Gurunadha Rao said that in order to experience the joy of innovation, every year school children in the age-group of 10 to 15 years (class 6 to 10) are selected for the INSPIRE Awards, which carries an investment of Rs. 5,000 per student. The projects were judged on the basis of originality, creativity, innovation, utility, and use of scientific methods, he said.

The district resource persons, T. Srinath and B. Apprao, National Innovation Foundation research fellow Rajani Sharma, and others were also present. Mementos and certificates were distributed to the selected students.
