Chingjin Thabi Selection:Improved cucumber variety

In order to verify and validate the innovator’s claims, National Innovation Foundation - India (NIF) facilitated the experimental trial at Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur. The experimental results verified the claimed characteristics of the variety. The report revealed that the quality of tender fruits were excellent and would be an ideal choice of a normal consumer because of the soft seed.

Based on the performance of the variety, KVK, Thoubal district of Manipur conducted on-farm trials at five locations in 2011. The result was found superior in terms of yield, heavy fruit weight and high cost benefit ratio. Likewise he has received many encouraging feedbacks from scientists of Central Agricultural University, Imphal and State Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Manipur. NIF-India conducted a diffusion study and found that the variety is being grown by several farmers of Manipur and Mizoram states. So far the innovator has distributed the seed to over three hundred farmers free of cost for their own cultivation. It was also found that the seed of variety has been diffused through farmer to farmer channel.
